Going on your first vacation by yourself is always a little scary. To make it easier to decide, choose a friendly and travel-friendly country. Best of all, no language barrier. Start with any country from my list and you won’t notice how you won’t need a travel agent, and what’s more, you can try all kinds of activities in this world!
Preparing for a trip is longer than buying a ready-made tour, but it is more interesting and not like others. To save on airfare, plan your travels, and find good accommodations, read our guide for those who want to travel on their own. And in this article, I’ve put together five ideal countries for a vacation without a package tour.
France
Recently, train travel has become increasingly popular in France. And not only because of the desire to see the world, but also to find a like-minded person in the carriage. The fact is that now a person who bought a ticket for a high-speed train can be sure that his companions will have similar hobbies. For this purpose before the trip clients are offered to fill in a special questionnaire, where they have to list their hobbies. So now one part of the train can selflessly play poker, the other – to knit and the third – to discuss politics. And no one disturbs each other. Such hobby clubs.
Norway
In Norway, the locals are obsessed with collecting things that are thrown ashore by the sea. Recently a llama (she has been dedicating herself to this collecting for more than 20 years) found on the coast an ancient necklace, which was later found out to be more than 2 thousand years old. However, enjoy his findings Norwegian residents did not have time – rarity is taken to a museum. So you think ten times, is it worth flaunting your collection?
Malta
If you buy a souvenir in Malta, whether it be a ceramic bell, piggy bank, or a dish, you can be sure – it will certainly depict a bus. It’s as much of a “specialty” for the Maltese as a Russian matryoshka doll. And local residents as a hobby often choose an unusual occupation: they create lace and woven products, which are convenient to store … toilet paper. It looks like a real work of art, and it’s even a shame to use it for its intended purpose.
China
The Chinese prefer to fly kites in their spare time. This tradition is ancient: in ancient times, locals used to fly kites instead of… fishing rods. They would hook a fishing hook onto a kite and fly it in the middle of a river. Nowadays, the Chinese are more concerned with the appearance of their kites than with fishing. What shapes and sizes you won’t see here! Snakes in the form of butterflies, eagles, snails, peacocks, grasshoppers… For many Chinese, it’s more than just a hobby. It’s a way of life. Snake-building” is done, as a rule, by the whole family.
Belgium
In Belgium in recent years are becoming increasingly popular clubs … mustaches. They bring together the owners of the most unusual mustaches. While the men are boasting to each other with a long and puffy mustaches, the ladies (there are also many of them) are looking for their husbands. After all, romantic encounters in such clubs are not uncommon.
Thailand
When to go to Thailand: From November to February – great weather in the north of Thailand. On the Andaman coast – Phuket, Krabi – the season lasts from November to the end of April, then the rains begin. In the Gulf of Thailand – Pattaya, Samui, Ko Chang, Hua Hin – good from January to August. All the good things you’ve heard about Thailand are true. The islands and beaches are total bounties, the palaces are gorgeous, the food is unusual and delicious, the locals are friendly. Questions are resolved with smiles, and you can find a common language with anyone, even if you know English at a first-grade level. Trains, buses, and domestic flights are cheap and comfortable and it’s easy to find out when the nearest flight to Bangkok is. Perfect country for your first exotic trip without a travel agent.
The easiest thing is to choose a Thai resort, lay on the beach, and make a few outings in the surrounding area. More difficult, but more interesting – to first go around a few cultural attractions, and then relax by the sea.
